Audio-Technica AT-VMN20xEB — Bonded elliptical replacement stylus

The AT-VMN20xEB is Audio-Technica's replacement stylus for the AT-VM520xEB cartridge, the middle step of the AT-VMx family. Its bonded elliptical tip —an elliptical diamond mounted on a small metal shank— gives a narrower contact profile than a conical tip, and therefore finer groove tracking on demanding passages, at a contained cost and with a highly repeatable factory assembly.

The assembly is completed by a light, rigid aluminium cantilever that keeps moving mass low so the tonearm works comfortably around 2 g. The stylus slips off and on by hand, with no tools, thanks to the series' own fit: remove the old one, align the body and push until it clicks.

Day to day, it is the natural choice for anyone who wants to restore the original sound of their VM520xEB without changing cartridge, or who wants to sample the elliptical character before moving up to a nude stylus. We recommend checking the tip with a felt brush and verifying tracking force with a gauge before every stylus change.
