Audio-Technica AT81CP — P-mount dual moving magnet cartridge with 0.6 mil conical stylus

The AT81CP is a dual moving magnet cartridge with a P-mount body, the plug-in system many entry-level and all-in-one turntables use to make cartridge changes simple. It slides into the arm without screws or an alignment protractor and sits in the position the manufacturer intended.

It carries a 0.6 mil conical stylus with a bonded round shank diamond and a carbon-fibre reinforced ABS cantilever, a combination chosen for stable, hard-wearing playback in daily use. The 3.5 mV output and the recommended 47 kΩ load make it compatible with conventional moving magnet phono inputs.

It is a sensible choice to bring a P-mount turntable back to life when the stylus is worn, or to fit a second cartridge for everyday listening. Its replacement stylus is the ATN81CP, sold separately, so maintenance does not require replacing the whole cartridge.
