Anti-static record brush with conductive synthetic fibres that lift dust and dissipate static charge. Dry use.
The AT6011a is Audio-Technica's everyday maintenance brush: the piece you run over the record before each side to lift the dust that settles in the groove and ends up on the stylus tip. It is used dry, without liquids, and leaves no residue on the vinyl.
Its fibres are synthetic and conductive. As they sweep the surface they carry loose particles away and at the same time drain the static charge that builds up as the record turns and as it is separated from its sleeve. That charge is what attracts more dust and what produces the clicks heard in quiet passages. In practice the result is a cleaner background and less surface noise.
Keeping the groove free of particles does more than improve listening: it also reduces stylus wear, because dust acts as an abrasive between the diamond and the vinyl. It is a low-cost accessory worth keeping next to the turntable and using before every play, and it pairs well with a deeper liquid clean every so often.
