Universal stroboscope disc to check 33 and 45 RPM platter speed, with a printed overhang gauge.
The AT6180a is a universal Audio-Technica stroboscope disc for checking platter speed without any extra instruments. It sits on the record or on the spindle, is lit by a mains-powered lamp, and the pattern stays still once the platter turns at the correct speed.
The double scale covers 33 1/3 and 45 RPM, the two speeds used by practically every LP and maxi single. An overhang gauge is printed around the disc, so the same tool checks both the speed and the position of the stylus relative to the spindle.
It is a maintenance tool worth keeping within reach: it exposes a stretched belt or a drifting motor in seconds, before the problem becomes audible. Made of a rigid, light material, it stores flat and needs no calibration.
