Ultra-crystallized 7N copper leads with mica filling and gold-plated triangular tips.
The AT6112x is Audio-Technica's top-tier cartridge-to-headshell lead set. Its conductor is class 7N ultra-crystallized copper, with 29 strands of 0.12 mm diameter, one of the purest conductors used in audio; the result is a very low-noise transfer with fine detail that comes through on well-mastered recordings.
The PVC jacket is mica filled to control vibration in the cable itself, a detail that extends the response at both ends and gives the bass more weight. The tips are triangular and gold plated: each one rests on three points against the cartridge and headshell pins, so the contact is firm and repeatable.
It is a replacement part for anyone who has already looked after the rest of the analogue chain and wants to get the most from a high-end cartridge without changing it. It is also the logical choice when fitting a Microlinear or Shibata moving coil, where the information in the grooves arrives with more nuance.
