The ATR1200X is the more accomplished sibling of the ATR1100X: a handheld dynamic microphone aimed at users who want a clearer, more natural voice and instrument sound without moving to a studio condenser. The unidirectional pattern focuses pickup on the source and rejects the rear, which keeps feedback away in karaoke setups, small venues and conference rooms.
Its cable is a permanently attached 5 m run with a 3.5 mm mini-jack, two metres longer than the ATR1100X, which gives room to move on a small stage or around a room. An on/off switch sits under the thumb, and the supplied 6.3 mm adapter lets it feed the jack inputs of a domestic amplifier or a powered speaker.
The box includes a desk stand and an adjustable stand clamp, so the microphone can be used on a table or mounted on a floor stand straight away. At 150 g with an 80 Hz to 12 kHz response and -59 dB output, it is a practical all-rounder for home use, presentations and amateur performance.
