The ATH-AWKT/f uses Kokutan, Japanese ebony, one of the densest woods Audio-Technica works with. That density produces a very rigid housing that adds almost no coloration and lets the driver move freely; the near-black finish with visible grain gives it a sober, instantly recognisable look.
It shares the series architecture: 53 mm drivers with DLC coating, a pure iron yoke, 6N-OFC voice coils and the D.A.D.S. system that splits the housing into two chambers to control internal pressure. Response extends to 45 kHz, with 102 dB/mW sensitivity and 48 ohms: demanding of amplification quality, but not of raw power.
Magnesium arms and a padded headband distribute the 405 grams. Supplied with two 3 m detachable A2DC cables — gold-plated 6.3 mm jack and 4-pin balanced XLRM — and a rigid case.
