KEF R5 Meta

The KEF R5 Meta is the slimmest floorstander in the R Meta Series. It carries the 1"-5" Uni-Q array — a 25 mm vented aluminium dome tweeter sitting at the centre of a 125 mm midrange cone — and adds two 5.25" (130 mm) woofers in a bass-reflex configuration. That combination delivers deep, fast bass down to 52 Hz without needing a bulky cabinet, which is welcome in medium-sized rooms.

The Uni-Q driver features Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which absorbs 99 % of the unwanted energy leaving the back of the tweeter and keeps the midrange and treble cleaner. The cabinet sits on a base with decoupling spikes and is easy to place in a living room. With 87 dB sensitivity and a nominal 8 ohm load, it works with amplifiers from 15 W to 200 W.
