The AT8176 is a foam windscreen for the AT2040 and AT2040USB dynamic microphones. It slides over the head of the microphone and damps the noise made by air hitting the grille, whether in a room with draughts or when the speaker works very close to the capsule.
The foam also keeps dirt and breath moisture away from the capsule during long sessions. By slowing the air flow it removes the low-frequency thumps and puffs that appear when the presenter moves around the microphone.
Fitting is immediate: there are no clips or brackets, you simply slide it on until it seats. It is a practical spare part for podcasting, voice-over and streaming, and it lets you keep the microphone in good condition without taking it apart.
