The AT-HPC3 is the transport case Audio-Technica designed for its high-end headphones. The shell is rigid aluminium with reinforced corners, metal latches and a central handle, so the contents are protected from knocks and pressure in transit. Resin feet on the base stop the case itself from scratching the surface it rests on and absorb part of the impact when it is set down.
Inside there are two layers: egg-crate foam in the lid and a padded base with 10 mm precut squares that can be removed to shape the cavity around each model. That customisation lets the headphones travel with their cable, or even a spare cable, without moving around. Audio-Technica notes that some models with side supports may not fit, so checking dimensions before choosing the case is worthwhile.
It measures 336 mm wide, 265 mm deep and 160 mm high, and weighs about 1.3 kg. A name tag for the handle is included, useful when travelling with more equipment. It is a simple but well-resolved accessory: it protects a significant investment without adding excessive weight to a backpack or a car boot.
